The San Francisco Bay Area metal scene has a long and storied history of spawning some powerful and innovative acts: Metallica, Exodus, Death Angel, Testament and Machine Head come to mind. After the much lauded 2016 release of "The Bane Of Existence", produced by Sahaj Ticotin (RA) and Bob Marlette (Atreyu, Coal Chamber, Rob Zombie, Seether) with the grinding single "Hellfoot", Mudface have shown they're ready to carry on that tradition.
Formed in 2005 by vocalist Chris Dinsmore and Ted Aguilar (Death Angel), Mudface has released two self titled EP's and two full length albums, the earlier mentioned "Bane Of Existence" and 2012's "Anti" which was produced by Tim Narducci (Systematic, Spiral Arms, The Watcher's). Both albums have received radio airplay all over the world. The current lineup of Mudface came together over time while crossing paths in the bay area metal scene. Magnatized by their shared musical influences of icons such as Megadeth, Death Angel, Testament, NIN, Iron Maiden, among others, one by one, they were drawn into the Mudface universe. Lead vocalist Chris Dinsmore, is the only original and founding member. Keyboardist/vocalist Brett Crane, Guitarist Aaron McCoy, Bassist Jim Pegram and Drummer Bones Padilla round out the current line up.
The band puts their core philosophy succinctly: "We want to prove that the metal genre is not dead. Our music has groove and hooks, while remaining true to our roots. Our goal is to take our music beyond the bay area, to the U.S. and the rest of the world, with a powerful and dynamic live show..No lip-synching allowed!"
The band has earned a reputation as intense Maniacal live performers in the bay area and throughout the western half of the U.S., playing with Exodus, Testament, Overkill, High On Fire, Death Angel and Otep, among others. The band has played on big stages: In 2013, Mudface won the "Headbang To The Highway" competition sponsored by Sumerian Records and played the Mayhem Festival at the Shoreline Amphitheatre with Rob Zombie, Five Finger Death Punch, Mastodon, Amon Amarth and Machine Head. The band has also performed on the U.S.S. Hornet and the legendary Queen Mary.
Mudface's first single release "Hellfoot" from the "Bane Of Existence", is a scathing indictment of humanity, repeatedly making the wrong choices and heading down a dangerous path. A video for the song premiered on February 12th, 2016 at revolver.com. A video for the second single "The Watcher's", soon followed.
As we move forward into 2019, Mudface are ready to take on anything that comes their way. They just finished recording new music (once again produced by Tim Narducci) for an early 2019 release, with videos and touring to follow.
